Frontline International Redesigns M3 System Web Interface

Easier than ever to monitor and control cooking oil usage

Frontline International’s exclusive M3 data management system is widely acclaimed for empowering kitchen managers to control and monitor their cooking oil using a central, web-based utility. It is now even better with a redesigned online dashboard that makes it easier than ever for users to tap into a complete accounting of all things cooking oil, saving oil and optimizing chain practice.

M3 (Monitor, Measure and Manage) is an optional add-on system that works in concert with all of Frontline’s cooking oil management systems—from fresh oil to waste oil—and can be accessed online at any time from any computer, digital tablet, or smartphone with an internet connection. The new, redesigned web interface make it even easier to set accurate, smart controls on all aspects of a kitchen’s cooking oil.

“The industry has responded well to this ability to get the most out of their oil from anywhere,” said Giovanni Brienza, vice president of Frontline International. “Now, with these upgrades, we hope even more kitchens will give M3 a try and see how it maximizes efficiency and profits.”

The cleaner, more intuitive design of the online dashboard enhances at-a-glance understanding of current oil usage, with customizable settings telling the story in bold graphic displays. Users select the information they want to appear and where, with access at the macro, micro, and granular levels. Widgets can be chosen and arranged at-will, giving users the precise information they want. M3 also generates reports that are customized according to user preferences.

M3, a past winner of the prestigious Kitchen Innovations™ Award from the National Restaurant Association, empowers users to track all statistics concerning cooking oil, even across multiple units and franchise locations, and compare them daily, weekly, or monthly. Operators can view usage, schedule renderer pickups, perform diagnostics, and lock and unlock storage tank collection ports remotely, as well as schedule alerts to signal franchisees, oil collection companies, or multiple entities before waste tanks ever reach full status.

M3 can also calibrate the quality of fresh oil. When combined with Frontline’s EZ Oil™ fresh-oil dispensing system, users can program fryers to automatically top-off and filter oil—all in an effort to enhance the taste of food product and ensure consistent results. The tool also works with a battery of fryers by reading the needs of each individual piece of equipment and what it’s cooking.

New Touchscreen Control Panels Added to Frontline International’s Waste Oil Tanks

Upgraded tech brings ease of use, new features and capabilities

A Frontline waste oil tank is a valuable part of creating a safer workplace, greatly minimizing the risk of accidents and hazards due to oil handling while enhancing sustainability and oil reclamation/recycling efforts. The control panel is how users customize tank functions, adjusting or programming specific settings to get the best value. The new touchscreen control panel signals the kitchen of tomorrow through technology that improves operations by making a tough, messy job easier and cleaner.

The new touchscreen has digital versions of instruction manuals stored for convenient call-up, a self-test mode and other troubleshooting capabilities, and generates reports that are downloadable to a jump drive. Newly designed graphs and icons make it easier for operators to understand data. Other new features include oil usage set points and the ability to track fresh oil in and out.

Using the password-protected touchscreen, users have clear and immediate access to information about system type, tank status, and tank level in an easy-to-read graphic display. Advanced settings control the opening and closing of the collection valve, service intervals, and issue an alert when the tank reaches 75% capacity. As an added safety feature, when 100% full, automatic protections will not allow the tank to accept any more oil.

As always, all Frontline International tanks can be synched to Frontline’s exclusive M3 data management system for remote, web-based access to all features and functions. M3 gives users total control to monitor, measure, and manage oil use—tracking usage by store unit, with the ability to monitor collection volumes and compare statistics on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.

Frontline International’s Auto Top‑Off Protects Food Quality, Reduces Oil Cost

Automated equipment maintains optimal oil levels in fryer vat

Auto top-off allows operators to disperse a precisely calibrated amount of cooking oil into the fryer vat to offset the small amount that is absorbed into the food. Because some oil is lost to the food with every order, auto top-off ensures consistency from batch to batch. And in the foodservice business, food consistency equals brand consistency.

When cooking oil levels are not maintained, the natural degradation of the oil that occurs during fryer operation is accelerated. EZ-Oil’s auto top-off feature saves restaurants thousands of dollars worth of oil each year simply by maintaining the proper amount of oil in the vat. These savings are huge to major chains and second only to the safety benefits realized by the elimination of the need to lift, pour, and potentially splash or splatter cooking oil.

“When proper attention is paid to cooking oil, it will reward restaurants and with delicious, consistent fried foods while paying dividends reflected in the bottom line,” said Giovanni Brienza, vice president of Frontline International. “It is a part of the recipe, flavor consistency, and, ultimately, the brand and reputation of the store.”

Successful operations invest many resources training their employees on how the end product should look, taste, and smell. Frontline’s EZ Oil system with auto top-off and auto filtration adds another layer of quality and brand protection.

EZ Oil is the centerpiece of Frontline International’s Smart Oil Management™ systems. It is the convenient, safer, and more cost-effective way to refill fryers with cooking oil. Upside-down storage dispenses every drop of oil, increasing yields by up to 5%.

EZ Oil’s integral pump moves oil at the touch of a button from the reservoir to awaiting fryer vats. It can dramatically improve workplace safety, as hands and floors are kept clean and grease-free.

Michael Sues named Frontline International customer service representative

Sues tabbed to manage critical customer/contractor relationships

Frontline International, a leader in the manufacture of equipment to dispense cooking oil to and remove cooking oil from foodservice fryers, has named Michael Sues as its new customer service representative. His responsibilities include receiving incoming orders and then helping customers identify site-specific challenges and providing solutions to these challenges before scheduling the installations.

Proper installation is a highly important aspect of a customer’s new system. Running between Frontline International’s equipment and the fryer is plumbing that might span only a few feet or, for complex installations, might connect several fryers on several floors within the building and run many hundreds of feet. Getting the plumbing plan right is critical, and “inside” advice can make a difference. When customers need to plan the installation of their new oil-handling equipment, Michael Sues will be running point.

Sues will be the primary conduit between customers and general contractors, helping to ensure that each system is installed efficiently and accurately. His duties include soliciting and managing strategic service providers, overseeing bids, determining scope of work, assigning tasks, and managing schedules, deadlines, and deliveries.

“Our brand promise to customers is that they’ll never have to touch cooking oil again; installations are where we see that promise pay off,” said Giovanni Brienza, vice president of Frontline International. “Michael is the right person to help make the promise a reality. Our customers will love working with him.”

Sues, who formerly worked in construction management and project management, previously served as site coordinator with a major construction company and general contractor with a national home-improvement retailer.

Frontline International has a well-deserved reputation for the ability to right-size virtually any floor plan with high-performing, high-quality cooking oil handling equipment. Whether it’s in small, short-on-space convenience stores or challenging commercial kitchens on multiple levels or entire food courts and college campuses, Frontline is known for seamless installation and integration of its Smart Oil Management® systems.

Frontline’s Mobile Oil Containment Tank Gets an Upgrade

Onboard pump makes it safer and easier to collect oil from multiple locations

When Frontline International released its Waste Cooking Oil Containment Caddy three years ago, it was revolutionary. Now it’s even better, with the addition of its own pump and wand to draw oil into the tank.

Nicknamed the “Tank Tank” because it’s an oil tank and also mobile and rugged like a military tank—the Model 74SS-NA caddy with the extra-large 74-gallon tank is perfect for operations with numerous fryers dispersed at various locations within a building. Think of mall food courts, with their multiple restaurants, individual kitchens, and limited access for a central collection system.

The Tank Tank easily wheels to each location, its extra-large capacity accepting multiple deposits before needing to be emptied. Now, the onboard motor and pump make oil collection completely hands-free. Plus, once oil is housed safely inside, it can be transported with no hazardous sloshing. It’s locked in!

In addition to shopping mall environments, the Tank Tank is also ideal for sports stadiums with concession stands, conference centers, airports, casinos, and colleges and universities, among others. It can also serve as its own secure storage tank for smaller operations with a lower used oil turnover.

The unit can be safely rolled to fryers or temporary storage tanks where it suctions out the contents. When the tank is full, operators simply wheel it to a permanently positioned, centrally located containment tank and pump the used oil into the permanent tank. It helps eliminates the risk of burns, slips, and falls, which can often increase in likelihood when walking any distance with exposed oil. All hoses and attachments come standard. The Tank Tank is also available in a 47-gallon capacity for smaller operations.

Frontline International VP Speaks at Restaurant & Takeaway Expo

Giovanni Brienza featured on panel debating sustainability in foodservice

Frontline International vice president Giovanni Brienza was a featured speaker on a panel debate during the first day of the Restaurant & Takeaway Innovation Expo 2018. Brienza spoke on the topic “Ethical Eats: How Sustainable is Your Business?”

He was asked a number of questions relating to the appropriate disposal of fats, oils, and greases, and how various practices can impact the environment. Brienza told attendees that pouring waste oil down the drain sadly remains a common practice.

“Municipal sewer systems are not designed to process cooking oil—or any kind of oil,” Brienza told the audience. “Some people like to think they dump it down the drain and the problem goes away, but the problem is just starting. It clogs pipes, causes ruptures, blockages, and costly repairs. It’s bad for the environment … It’s just a bad practice. Don’t do it.”

Brienza also discussed how choosing the right oil management equipment can encourage proper disposal of oil and make it easy to earn money by selling waste oil to a render.

“Renderers are sometimes called ‘the original recyclers,’” said Brienza. “Using a renderer to properly dispose of fats, oils, and greases may be the ultimate in sustainability. The product has already served a useful purpose: to provide food for people. Now it’s going to be collected and converted into something else that people can use. That can be as diverse as biofuel, nutrient additives to pet food and animal feed, or for use in paint or candles.”

Adam Petyt, director of Cornware UK, and Gavin Curr, an accountant with MB Consultancy, joined Brienza on the panel. Restaurant & Takeaway Innovation Expo 2018, Europe’s only trade show for the foodservice industry focused on innovation, was held Sept. 25 and 26 in London.

“It was an honor to be selected to speak on the panel debate,” said Brienza. “These are important topics facing our industry, and I was pleased to share Frontline International’s message of safety, sustainability, and savings with the audience.”

Frontline International Redesigns Heated Grill Grease System

New funnel and improved heater controls highlight changes

Frontline International has redesigned its popular Heated Grill Grease System to be safer and cleaner and to accommodate more grills than before. Key changes include a new shape and the addition of a funnel to guide fat into the containment bin.

Other new features are an integral pump for worry-free transfer of grease to containment tanks, and new heater controls to more precisely and efficiently keep fats in a constant liquid state.

The Heated Grill Grease System allows users to collect grill grease throughout the serving day and then pump it into any of Frontline International’s waste-containment tanks. Solids are filtered via the extra-large sediment basket, preserving the high quality of the oil while protecting the integrity of the equipment’s pump and motor.

The redesign does an even better job of efficiently routing grease to the collection area and away from employees and kitchen surfaces. This improves safety and overall cleanliness.

Operation is easy: When the caddy is near full—or at scheduled intervals when the grill is less busy—carefully pull the caddy to the Frontline International used-oil storage tank or pumping station and easily pump the waste grease into the tank.

Frontline International Doubles Size of Flagship Plant

30,000 sq. ft. facility will dramatically increase manufacturing capacity

Frontline International has announced an expansion project that will double the size of its headquarters in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Following completion in Sept. 2018, the facility will total 30,000 square feet.

Virtually every aspect of Frontline’s business will be touched by the project, including significantly larger warehouse capacity to facilitate faster delivery of product. Fabrication and welding departments will also see expansion for faster product turnaround while maintaining critical quality standards.

Dramatic increases in international and domestic equipment sales spurred the new construction. New programs were also contributing factors, including the launch of OilCare®, a turnkey initiative for which cooking oil management services are bundled with fixed monthly equipment leases, helping customers access company services by financing the total cost. Increased manufacturing and warehousing capacity will position the company to better respond to the needs of customers globally.

Frontline moved to the Cuyahoga Falls location in 2010 after previously being based in nearby Barberton. At that time, company officials mindfully designed the plant to be modular to easily respond to future growth.

“We’re excited about our current growth trajectory,” John Palazzo, president of Frontline International. “This expansion will help us stay better connected to our customer base while continuing to spread our message of safe, sustainable, and profitable cooking oil use throughout the world. We look forward to the years ahead, with an eye on additional expansion in the future.”

Frontline’s Integrated Anti-Theft Valve Thwarts Would-Be Grease Bandits Easily and Effectively

Stealing used cooking oil is a $40 million dollar-per-year business. Restaurants are ripe targets and often don’t realize how easy it is to secure this precious commodity. Frontline International’s integrated anti-theft valve makes sure that no one drains oil storage tanks unless they are authorized to do so.

Why would anyone want to steal used grease? Because of its value to the production of biofuel and other byproducts like animal feed. It is estimated that 8 percent of all used oil intended for collection slips into the hands of thieves. That’s nearly 200 million pounds of stolen grease, selling at two to three dollars per gallon.

Now, restaurants and their renderers can easily protect themselves and eliminate the theft threat. Frontline collection ports with the integrated anti-theft valve make it impossible for thieves to drain stored oil. The anti-theft valve can only be opened by entering a password on a control panel on the tank.

The valve can also be opened remotely if foodservice operators choose Frontline’s web-based M3 Data Management System, which helps monitor, measure, and manage cooking oil usage while controlling profits from used oil resale. M3 provides data and reports to track usage and collection statistics and compare them daily, weekly, and monthly. Automatic alarms are sent before fresh oil supplies are exhausted or the waste oil tank reaches “full.” Oil collection companies can even be alerted when it is time to collect.

No matter which option is chosen, Frontline gives operators the weapons they need to lay down the law against oil thieves and keep their share of this vital commodity.
